Assessment & Evaluation

Assessment in RSE/PSHE education is not mandatory but is important in both promoting the subject and in monitoring the progress of pupils in order to ensure that they are receiving the education appropriate for their needs. The purpose of assessment is to check that learning is taking place, to identify what learners can do well and where and how they can do better. Effective assessment is fundamental to improving teaching and learning. It is also central to personalising learning and supporting individual progression.

This section contains a range of documents on assessment methods and opportunities which colleagues might find useful to allow them to develop this key concept within RSE/PSHE education. The team is also able to offer individual support to schools on assessment either via training or consultancy support. Look out for assessment twilight sessions that are available for free during the year in the training/CPD calendar.
